Time Travellers World Fair

Time travelling event gets closer

It is full steam ahead with preparations for the inaugural Time Travellers World Fair.
The unique event on Sunday, June 24 will see lovers of steampunk, medieval times, sword fighting and the future dress up and shop at stalls.
Everyone is encouraged to come along from 10am to 4pm at The Campbelltown Steam and Machinery Museum in Menangle Park.
There will be time travel-themed market stalls selling everything from new gadgets, clothing, equipment and novelty items as well as more traditional market stalls.
There will also be a variety of food and drink stalls.
The Oaks residents Sharon Robertson and Agnes Brown have organised the event.
“We now have between 60 to 70 stallholders signed up,” Mrs Robertson said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all the different outfits.
“The advantage of the event being a time travelling fair is that people can dress up from any era.
“There will be lots to look at and people to take photos with.”
There will be a competition for best-dressed and best pet outfit.
Fair-goers can also take a ride on a steam train.
Mrs Robertson said the event would be similar to pop culture event Supanova where people dress up as characters from television shows or movies.
“This is a unique and new event,” she said.
“It will be great to see people come out, get involved and have fun.
“There will something for everyone whether they are a Star Wars, Star Trek, rockabilly, Dr Who or Back to the Future fan.
“There is a culture of people who love time travel so the fair is a way to bring them together.”
Mrs Robertson challenged those who thought the event was “nerdy” to come out and see the fun for themselves.
The fair will raise money for the Campbelltown Steam and Machinery Museum to help the volunteers continue to preserve historic machinery.

Details: Entry is $10, free entry for children under 10. Tickets are available via the Time Travellers World Fair Facebook page or on the day.
